About this pattern
Two small bumps are joined into one round, then decreased into a soft, puffy heart. It takes about half an hour and uses just a few grams of yarn, so it is perfect for using up leftovers.
Make them for party favours, craft-fair tables, teacher gifts or Valentine's Day. They also work as bag charms and zipper pulls.
Why you'll love it
- Done in about 30 minutes
- Uses only about 6 g of yarn
- Great for selling at craft fairs
- Easy to personalise with embroidered initials

Two bumps
Two 18-stitch bumps: the first is fastened off, the second stays on the hook.
- 2
Joined
Rnd 5 joins the bumps into a single 36-stitch round.
- 3
Stuffed
Stuffed before the decreases make the opening too small.
- 4
On a keyring
The gap is closed and a jump ring is fixed at the dip of the heart.
Switch things up
Initial heart
Embroider an initial in chain stitch on the front before stuffing.
Heart garland
Skip the keyring and string 8–10 hearts on a cord, with a knot between each one.
Lavender sachet
Fill with dried lavender in a small muslin pouch to make a drawer freshener.

Common mistakes & how to fix them
- There is a hole where the bumps join.
- This is normal. Close it with the starting tail of the second bump, using two or three small stitches.
- The heart looks round, not heart-shaped.
- Pinch the top dip with your fingers while stuffing, and pull the closing stitches at the dip snug.
- The keyring tears the stitches.
- Pass the jump ring through two stitches, or sew a short chain loop to the top and attach the ring to that.

The pattern
Bumps (make 2)
Info: Fasten off the first bump. Leave the second bump on the hook and do not cut the yarn.
Joining & heart
Info: Close the gap between the bumps now, then stuff firmly.
Assembly
- 1
Use the tail from the first bump to sew the small gap at the dip of the heart closed.
- 2
Open the jump ring with pliers, pass it through two stitches at the dip, and close it again.
- 3
Attach the keyring to the jump ring.
Important notes
- Tip: Use a stitch marker at the start of Rnd 5. The join makes it easy to lose your place.
- Tip: Mercerised cotton gives crisp stitches. Acrylic is softer and fluffier.
- Tip: For craft fairs, make the bumps in batches first, then join them all.

How long does one heart take?
About 30 minutes, or 20 minutes once you have made a few.
Can I make it without a keyring?
Yes. Sew a small loop of chain stitches to the top to hang it, or leave it as a little plush.
Why does the heart look uneven?
Pinch the top dip while stuffing and do not overstuff the bumps. A firm, even stuffing gives the best shape.
Can I sell these hearts?
Yes, they are a craft-fair favourite. See the answer below about selling finished items.
Can I sell what I make from this pattern?
Yes. You may sell finished items made from this pattern in small handmade batches. Please credit Sweety Dreamz as the designer. Do not share, translate or resell the written pattern or its photos.
Is there a printable version?
Yes. Use the Print button at the top of the page. The print view removes ads and decorations, and you can leave out the pictures to save ink.
